BIO
Gabe is a professionally trained guitarist, composer and educator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with over 15 years playing experience. He has received a B.Mus (Hons) in Jazz Studies from Saint-Francis Xavier University, studying improvisation, arranging, music theory, songwriting, and composition with some of Eastern Canada’s top musicians. He also earned a B.A. in Psychology, where he studied cognition, behavior, and the self. Gabe has performed as a leader and sideman across Ontario. Quebec and Nova Scotia, including Ottawa Bluesfest and the Halifax Jazz Festival, and continues to perform with varying jazz ensembles throughout Halifax.
While specializing in jazz guitar and improvisation, Gabe’s early years focused on rock and metal music, expanding his technique and facility on the instrument. Since then, his musical interests have expanded and he’s excited to play and teach everything from Bach to The Beatles, from Brubeck to Bruno Mars! Gabe’s teaching methods are rooted in mindfulness, emphasizing joy, patience and adaptability while helping students pursue their short and long-term learning goals.
