Brendan Culver

Brendan Culver is a lifelong musician: a composer, keyboardist (piano/organ), and competitive highland bagpiper. Originally from Orangeville, Ontario, Brendan moved to Nova Scotia in 2022 and currently lives in Wolfville.

On the composition side, Brendan possesses a Masters Degree in Composition from the University of Toronto, and studied with Dr. Norbert Palej. Premiere performances include his String Quartet in C#, by the Grenadier String Quartet in Toronto in early 2020, and several smaller scale pieces before and since. Lately, Brendan has been mostly writing and arranging music for himself, students, and friends to play and perform.

On the keyboard side, Brendan has studied both piano and organ performance and possesses the Colleague diploma from the Royal Canadian College of Organists. Brendan has also taught piano for over 15 years in a range of studio settings and privately.

On the bagpiping side, Brendan has been a competitive soloist and member of competitive bands for over 20 years. Most of the past 15 years, Brendan has played in the annual World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, and is a regular competitor for the Piobaireachd Society Gold Medal (Canada) in Maxville, Ontario.

At Ekko, Brendan draws upon several years of experience as an administrative and HR manager, to work as our full-time Studio Coordinator, and looks after the day-to-day happenings in the studio, scheduling, emails, etc. on both the music and wellness side of things.

Brendan is also available by request to teach music rudiments & theory, and composition.
