About the Group

Location: Ekko Studio (12 Wentworth St., Dartmouth)

Fridays at 2:00 PM

Guided by composer Brendan Culver (BFA, MMus, CRCCO).

Recommended as a precursor or co-curricular with composition studies at the high school or undergraduate level. (Or as a personal pursuit!)

This group class works together to share, develop, and grow as composers and musicians. Having an introductory grasp of music rudiments is recommended. Topics and themes will be determined by the group, and are likely to include: use of tonal harmony, form and development, dissonance and atonalism, history and context, technique and analysis, arranging and re-composition, text-setting, and the philosophy of music.

Opportunities may include writing for string orchestra and/or chamber choir, as well as the opportunity to conduct your own piece.
