Lydia MacDonald

Lydia MacDonald is in her third year of a Bachelors of Music at Dalhousie University, studying Violin and Piano. She frequently performs in her studios’ noon hour and evening recitals, studying with professors Dr. Leonardo Perez and Peter Allen. Lydia has played with the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra for 4 seasons, playing works by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky. She has also been active with the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra for five seasons, three of which she has been honoured to hold the position of concertmaster. Lydia has also enjoyed being a part of chamber groups playing string quartets and piano quartets by Mendelssohn and Schumann.

Lydia is the seventh child in a musical family of 8 children. She has been playing violin, cello, and piano for several years. From a young age, she has loved and greatly appreciated music and hymns in her everyday life, as well as in the music ministry of her church. Outside the practice room, she enjoys wilderness camping, canoeing, and hunting with her family.
