More Than Just A Spelling Bee
At first glance, it’s a spelling competition. But beneath the awkward introductions, impossible words, and fierce determination is a deeply human story about growing up, longing to belong, and wanting to be seen.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious and heartfelt musical comedy featuring an eclectic group of six young spellers competing for the championship of a lifetime. As they navigate increasingly difficult (and sometimes questionable) words, they share personal stories that are equal parts funny, vulnerable, and deeply relatable.
With a witty book by Rachel Sheinkin and a vibrant, contemporary score by William Finn, this Tony Award-winning musical balances laugh-out-loud comedy with genuine emotional depth. It’s a celebration of individuality, awkwardness, and the universal desire to be understood.
Six spellers enter. One leaves a champion.
At least the losers get a juice box.

The 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
